तन्मात्रोदयरूपेण मनोऽहम्बुद्धिवर्तिना ।
पुर्यष्टकेन संरुद्धस्तदुत्थं प्रत्ययोद्भवम् ॥१७॥
tan-mātrodaya-rūpeṇa mano-'haṃ-buddhi-vartinā |
pury-aṣṭakena saṃruddhas tad-utthaṃ pratyayodbhavam ||

Hemmed in by the puryaṣṭaka (eight-fold subtle body) — which consists in the arising of the tanmātras and functions as mind, ego, and intellect — he experiences the rising of mental constructs born of it.
